Thank God It’s Friday (TGIF)! You meet up with your best buds, plop yourselves down at your usual haunt to drink, stare into space, look at your friends, look at your drink, glance back at your friends with a mundane look… well you get the idea.

This Friday, Butter Factory gives you a good reason to drink and make merry at Colour Butter – a live mural art project held in conjunction with the Singapore Design Festival 2007 featuring Jon Burgerman, an internationally renowned United Kingdom (UK) artist. As you sip your glass of golden Tiger beer served complimentary from 7:00pm to 9:00pm, watch live art unfold as he paints a mural on the walls of Butter Factory.

There’s a reason why Singapore is said to be multicultural. Not only because there is a myriad of races residing here, you also get to experience different cultures from all over the world. Glad to say, Erdinger Oktoberfest is one of them and any beer guzzling creature would be more than happy to use the festival as an excuse to drink more beer! (Read more)

While most DJs who’ve graced the covers of magazines seem to lead complex and sophisticated lives, this 26-year-old begs to differ.

DJ Yafith, Resident DJ of Attica Shanghai is actually a very simple, friendly and fun-loving person who just wants to make sure he delivers a good night out for everyone, UrbanWire discovers.

How did you get into the DJ scene (from picking it up to spinning professionally and then becoming a resident DJ of Attica)?
“Well… to cut the story short, I’ve loved music since I was young. I was involved in the military band from primary to secondary school, playing instruments such as the clarinet, the trumpet and I also played an organ at home. Then my “career” started as I got interested in becoming a club DJ. After getting to know some friends who’ve helped me out, here I am! I started playing in clubs at Boat Quay and Mohammed Sultan, a couple of parties in Sentosa, overseas, Clarke Quay (Attica Singapore) and now, Attica Shanghai! Phew… that was a mouthful!” (Read more)

On Apr 7, The Rapture opened *Readyset GLo - The MotoRed Sessions with an absolutely fantastic live performance at Zouk, followed by a spinning session at Velvet Underground.

Playing to a wildly adoring crowd, The Rapture conjured a terrific live set, from start to finish, leaving everyone gasping for more. Some bands sound good on their album but aren’t that good playing live, whereas The Rapture sounded good on their CD, and way better live. Hailing from New York City, the band mixes influences from many genres including acid house, disco, electronica and rock, and the fusion genre proved to be a hit, with the crowd lapping up every bit of the band’s playful and energetic songs. img_4042OhGenki has done it right once more, with their 2006 annual party. Last year it was at the Ministry of Sound; this year it was the newly opened St James Power Station.

As the party barely started, sleek rides pulled in at the PowerHouse entrance, drawing envious stares as engines and exhausts rumbled down the drive-way. Ranging from sporty Porsches and sleek Ferraris, to Maseratis, the parade of cars lent some star power to the beginning of the event.

Psychedelic posters coloured with splashes of citrus were but hints to the party’s theme. The night’s theme, “What’s Your Colour?” kicked off into full swing when the emcees opened the floor to pick-ups and mingling opportunities. Red, orange, green and white concoctions of vodka acted as colour codes, indicating guests’ status for the night. Green indicating “single”, orange was for the “attached but available”, red for the fun-loving “attached and unavailable” and white for “unique, daring and sexy” – the night was definitely young and filled with fun opportunities of sensuality and seduction.
