Payless: Affordable and fashionable

Known among many in the Western Hemisphere, Payless ShoeSource is the largest specialty family footwear retailer. With more than 4,500 Payless stores across the globe, it is rapidly expanding its international store chain, venturing into the Eastern Hemisphere since 2009.

99% of the women in the U.S. recognize the Payless name and even celebrities such as Gossip Girl female leads Blake Lively and Leighton Meester wear them.

Payless aims to provide affordable, comfortable and trendy footwear for families. If you’re worried if a certain design has your shoe size, fret not, because Payless prioritizes sizing over other factors. How do you shop? You walk down lanes of shoes arranged according to sizes, instead of designs, types and collections.

Offering a wide array of shoes, ranging from women’s high heels to children’s shoes, Payless also has designer collections.

Some of the designer collections include design labels “Lela Rose for Payless”, designed by famous New York fashion designer Lela Rose and “Christian Siriano for Payless”, designed by Project Runway winner and now bona fide fashion designer, Christian Siriano.

The label’s designer shoes go great with the runway and are composed of casual yet luxurious, sculptural and chic designs but are still affordable and absolutely fashionable. Christian Siriano’s faux suede Kristiana Piping Sandal is fierce, stylish and modern with thin piping details around the edges and an adjustable ankle strap with a metallic buckle. The wrapped cone heel with platform is not too high and goes easy on the heels. The royal purple that goes with the heels is great for colour blocking!

The women’s Quincy Lazer Cut boot by Lela Rose is also made of faux suede with cut-out details, definitely giving you an impression of high fashion. There is also a side zipper for a great fit and easy wear and the genuine leather outsole with 4″ faux wood heel and platform would give women a feeling of elegance and grandeur.

Stand tall with Payless’ women’s shoes this season. Now you don’t have to pay over a thousand dollars for a pair of Louboutins when you can get classic and sophisticated stilettos at a much affordable price. The women’s komet platform pump by Brash is a perfect example with a classic insole and padded inside for comfort. The high-style stiletto features a classic round toe and a dramatic 1.5” platform. The wrapped stiletto heel would also give women an added lift.

Some women are not into high-heeled stilettos but Fioni’s vintage-inspired boot might just be a hit with them. It also features a rich faux sued with laces, meant for a perfect fit. The ankle cuff details and soft jersey lining brings you back to the Wild Wild West. But don’t worry ladies, these lightweight wedge heel boots are made for walking.

Payless has definitely not forgotten about the kids. Its affordable children’s collection is just as chic as the designer and women’s collections.

The girls’ infant Ruffle Mary Jane shoes are really versatile and are made of soft faux suede upper with tiny flower details and girly ruffle detailing. There is also an adjustable Mary Jane strap for a snug fit (we all know how the young ones slip off their shoes quite often).

Not forgetting the boys, their infant plaid sneakers’ fabric is set to make any young boy look smart, coupled with casual wear. The Velcro strap also ensures a good and snug fit, especially if the little one runs a lot.

That’s not all there is to it about Payless. It also offers accessories such as handbags, totebags, clutches, shades and hats. You could also buy other items like shoe laces and shoe polish.

About Noel Teo

Having watched more than 300 films, an average of 4 movies a month since he was 12, Noel often quotes dialogue from them randomly. His favourites are 'Mean Girls', 'Fired Up', 'Wild Child' and 'The Devil Wears Prada'. On top of that, he caught the shutter bug just 2 years back and has been putting his photography skills to test after coming back from a trip to Wuhan, where he learnt photojournalism. He enjoys food photography simply because he's a foodie. Like any other foodie, Noel enjoys eating. Sometimes it ranges from a simple pizza to specific cravings like glutinous rice balls. The best way to describe him? A shutter-happy geek.
